Q
Exactly what is DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®?
A DRI WASH N GUARD®
is a combination car wash, polish and protective glaze which is applied
directly to a dirty surface without the use of water, it contains no
waxes, nor is it simply a polish.
Waxes do a good job of "protecting" but often leave the paint
dull. Polishes are great at removing minor stains and blemishes, and are
much more capable of rejuvenating dull paint. But polishes often are
abrasive, and provide very little protection on the paint surface. Paint
sealants protect very well, but cannot clean or polish- a vehicle's
paint must be virtually pristine before the sealants can be
applied. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® combines the best features of waxes,
polishes and paint sealants without any of the drawbacks.
Q Why is it possible
to apply DRI WASH 'n GUARD® over a dirty surface?
A DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® contains 47 ingredients, including wetting agents, lubricants
and protectants which have never been used by the car care industry.
The detergents and wetting agents in DRI WASH 'n GUARD® combine to
soften and emulsify surface grime, while a specific blend of
polymeroxane fluids and hydrophenolic lubricants attach a microscopic
layer of exclusive PolyGuard-3® to the surface. PolyGuard-3® is an
extremely rare (and expensive) substance which provides a bonded layer
of protection against any remaining abrasive not broken down by the
detergents and wetting agents.
Q How do I care for my
vehicle between DRI WASH 'n GUARD® applications?
A It's EASY, All you
need is two soft terry towels-a small washcloth and a hand towel. Wet
the smaller one with water until it is almost dripping, then lightly run
over the area to be cleaned (such as the hood). DO NOT RUB HARD. The
dirt and water will not stick to the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on the surface.
Now take the dry, larger towel and lightly buff the area dry. That
exclusive DRI WASH 'n GUARD® shine will come right back. Ordinarily,
one wetting of a small washcloth is enough to finish an entire car.
A little common sense will help here-if your car is really dirty with
caked mud, pebbles, etc. remove it from the surface with care.
Q What is the
guarantee on DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
A When used in strict
compliance with its "directions for use," DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
is guaranteed to perform as indicated. Upon initial use, the bottle will
spray properly and the vehicle will shine more than before DRI WASH 'n
GUARD was applied and water will bead on it.
Years of ongoing test evaluations, quality control assurances, and
hundreds of thousands of field test cases that our satisfied customers
have given DRI WASH 'n GUARD® assure its safety and effectiveness.
Enviro-Tech International, however, cannot be held responsible for
damage that may occur from improper use of the product.
Q How durable is DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®?
A A vehicle surface
protected by DRI WASH 'n GUARD® will bead water for a year or more,
even on windshields which are scrubbed by wiper blades, ice scrapers,
etc. When applied to paint on a new vehicle, then reapplied twice a
year, the paint will not fade. Once oxidation begins, however, it cannot
be stopped, only slowed. On older, extremely oxidized paint, DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® may need to be applied as often as every 2-3 months, even though
the paint is still protected and beading water. DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
helps protect against the effects of high sun exposure, acid rain and
road salt.
Q How dirty is
extremely dirty when applying DRI WASH 'n GUARD® directly on dirt?
A Mud, clay, granules,
heavy salt spray, bugs, heavy tar and tree sap are examples of things
that cannot and should not be polished with DRI WASH 'n GUARD®. Let
common sense be your guide-if in doubt, rinse off the vehicle before
applying DRI WASH 'n GUARD®.
Q What are the
benefits of DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on glass, and are there any precautions
to its use?
A There is no other
product for use on glass which will give the brilliant clarity of DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®. The glass will seem to disappear. The product also
makes a glass surface smoother, or slippery, so that water runs off a
windshield without a trace. This "slick" surface also means
that insects, bird droppings and tree sap can be removed effortlessly.
In winter, windshields and outside mirrors protected by DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® are more easily cleared of snow and ice.
Q Should DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® be applied over paint and sealants?
A Yes and no. Paint
sealants are only applied to new cars, or cars whose paint is in
excellent condition. If properly applied, the sealant will maintain the
finish for six months or more. When the finish no longer beads water,
the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® should be applied. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® should
not be applied within 90 days after a fresh paint sealant.
If DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is applied over FRESH paint sealant, it is
possible that the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® may be somewhat difficult to
remove and cause minor streaking, usually noticeable only on darker
colors. It can be applied over a fresh paint sealant without problems if
a high-speed buffer is used.*
Q Can DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® be applied over other waxes and polishes?
A Yes. It will cut
through any wax or polish and leave a brilliant, bonded layer of
protection.
Q If I decide to wash
my car before applying DRI WASH 'n GUARD®, must I dry it, to?
A A big YES here! Even
a few drops of water will create problems, i.e. the polish will be
difficult to remove and will probably leave streaks. Furthermore, DRI
WASH 'n GUARD'S® shine and protection qualities will be greatly
diminished.
Q What happens if DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® freezes?
A DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
has been subjected to repeated cold-cycle tests to -20 degrees F. with
no damage to the chemical formulation. However, the bottles in which the
product is packaged will become brittle and subject to breakage in
sub-freezing temperatures. It is recommended that DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be
stored at room temperature.
Q Does DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® contain silicones?
A No.
Q Why shake DRI WASH
'n GUARD before each use?
A Some of the
product's ingredients fall out of solution and must be remixed before
use. Vigorously shake the 32-oz bottle prior to filling the 8-oz.
AIRosol applicator bottle, then shake it before each application of DRI
WASH 'n GUARD®.
Q Can another type of
spray bottle be used to apply DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
A Possibly, but doing
so will nullify the product warranty. There is no other spray applicator
which provides the fine, even mist which is dispensed by the AIRosol
bottle
Q What is the useful
life of the AIRosol bottle?
A Properly handled,
the bottle will last indefinitely. Each bottle is hand-tested before it
leaves the factory and is warranted to be in perfect working order. It
should not be dropped, and it should be stored in an upright position at
room temperature, if possible.
The spray valve needs periodic cleaning. The simplest way to clean it is
to invert the fully pressurized bottle and depress the actuator button
for three seconds. If the valve is extremely clogged, remove it and soak
it in hot, soapy water, then blow it clean.
Q Is too-frequent use
of DRI WASH 'n GUARD® harmful to the paint?
A No. DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® can be applied daily without harming the painted surface. The
product works only as hard as necessary. On paint in excellent
condition, it cleans as gently as water. On oxidized paint, DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® cuts through layers of oxidation each time it is used. The more
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® with exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® is used, the
more brilliant and smooth the surface becomes, and even more resistant
to the elements.
Q
What is "Cold Shock"?
A The propellant in a
typical aerosol can will cause the can to become very cold after a few
minutes of continuous spraying. This cannot happen with the AIRosol
bottle because it is pressurized with ordinary air.
Q Can DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® be applied to vinyl tops?
A Yes and no. DRI WASH
'n GUARD® is not intended as a vinyl cleaner, but it will clean vinyl
without damage and will protect it. It is difficult, however, to remove
DRI WASH 'n GUARD® from the tiny grooves in deeply grained vinyl. If it
is used on vinyl, do not allow it to dry to a haze before buffing of the
vinyl surface. Always test in inconspicuous area when using on leather
and vinyl surfaces.
Vinyl tops and leather upholstery will look like new again with DRI WASH
'n GUARD® LEATHER & VINYL TREATMENT, which is also available from
any DWG Intl. independent distributor.
Q How about vinyl
moldings, and leather or vinyl door trim panels, padded instrument panel
covers, tires, etc.?
A See previous
question. It is almost impossible to polish a vehicle without getting
some of the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on a vinyl body molding, a rubber bumper
fascia or bumper guard, or flat-painted mirror, window molding or
windshield wiper. Just buff it off before it dries.
Q I've noticed that
some of the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® droplets get past door, trunk and hood
openings. Is harmful to leave them there?
A No. Such over spray
is unavoidable. These droplets can be wiped off anytime, even several
months later.
Q Is it really
impossible to burn paint with a buffer when using DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
What buffer speed is best?
A Nothing is
impossible, but you'll have to try very hard. Under normal circumstances
it cannot happen. The surface simply becomes too slippery and smooth to
create the necessary friction (and heat) which causes paint burn.
An orbital or a variable-speed buffer at 1,500 RPM or less will do the
job. Do Not Buff With The Edge Of The Pad-use the entire pad surface
whenever possible. Operate the buffer using unhurried, overlapping
circular motions while maintaining firm downward pressure.*
Q What other buffing
tips do you suggest?
A No one thing is
recommended for every situation. A buffer will do nothing for the paint
that polishing by hand can't do better or faster. Make sure that the
buffer is equipped with a foam bonnet.*
Q Can DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® with exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® remove swirls left in the
paint by other products?
A Yes. But you must
buff in the opposite direction of the swirl mark pattern, or in a
circular motion.
Q How heavy should the
spray be?
A More is not
necessarily better. Spray in long sweeping motions, holding the bottle
at least 12" from the surface.
Q Can any other
material be used as an applicator cloth when applying DRI WASH 'n
GUARD®?
A The only recommended
substitute is a foam bonnet when using a buffer.
Q Should DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® be removed while still damp, or let it dry completely?
A Normally it makes no
difference, but in cases where the paint is in very poor condition-dry,
rough, oxidized-it is better to remove the product immediately before
moving to the next area.
Q How many waterless
wash/polish jobs can I expect from a bottle of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
A Using a new
compact-size vehicle as an illustration, the 8 oz. AIRosol applicator
should yield four polish jobs including glass. The 32-oz. refill bottle
should provide about 16 applications; the 69-oz. refill about 34.
Of course, the larger the vehicle, or the
worse the condition of the paint, the more DRI WASH 'n GUARD® you will
use. But remember, a little goes a long way!
Q Beyond its
durability, how often should DRI WASH 'n GUARD® be reapplied to keep a
vehicle looking really good?
A To keep the
incredible sense of depth and brilliance in the paint, and to keep the
surface as smooth as porcelain, a monthly application is recommended. Of
course, that depends on the color and condition of the paint and the
weather conditions. Normally, re-apply the product every 2-3 months.
Q How economical is
DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
A If a 32 oz. bottle
of DRI WASH 'n GUARD® results in 16 cleaning/polishing jobs, you're
getting a bargain at a little over $2.00 each time. Compare that with
the $25-$50 cost of having your vehicle detailed. Besides the money
savings, a 32 oz. bottle will save more than 2,000 gallons of water, an
irreplaceable resource.
Q Is DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® safe for clear coats?
A Absolutely. DRI WASH
'n GUARD® has been laboratory tested on every type of paint used by the
industry, from older acrylic laquers to modern high-gloss acrylic
urethane and polyurethane paints. Properly applied, DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
with exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® is safe for all hard non-porous
surfaces. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® should not be applied within 90 days of
new clear coat.
Q How soon can DRI
WASH 'n GUARD® be applied to a repainted vehicle?
A Both the paint
industry and the automobile industry generally endorse a 90-day waiting
period for newly painted vehicles, during which time thinning solvents
evaporate from the paint, allowing it to cure. Enviro-Tech International
endorses that industry standard.
Q Are there other uses
for DRI WASH 'n GUARD®?
A DRI WASH 'n GUARD®
can be effectively used on virtually any non-porous surface, from
automobile paint and chrome to household appliances to jewelry. But you
may want to try DRI WASH 'n GUARD® for the Home, and DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® Premium Metal Polish, too.
Q Will DRI WASH 'n
GUARD with exclusive formula PolyGuard-3® work on boats and fiberglass?
A Yes. With each
application of DRI WASH 'n GUARD®, the boat will be easier to maintain,
particularly against water spots.
Q Will DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® remove hard water spots?
A It can, but only if
the finish is relatively new, has already been treated, or the spotting
hasn't set too deeply. DRI WASH 'n GUARD® is a tremendous cleaner, but
it is not an abrasive rubbing compound, which often is necessary to
remove severe hard water spots.
Q Does DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® help to protect against ultraviolet (UV) radiation?
A Yes, thanks to two
special ingredients which help screen UV rays. But there is nothing that
can totally protect a surface from exposure to the sun. Just as
sunscreens cannot entirely protect the skin from burning, UV- blockers
cannot fully protect painted surfaces from chemically decomposing over
time.
Q Can DRI WASH 'n
GUARD® remove scratches?
A Yes, if they are
minor, light scratches. It will eliminate the tiny "feather"
scratches caused by many car wash brushes. The product does not contain
any ingredients which can fill deeper, more serious scratches.
To remove light scratches, spray the scratched area with a 12" X
12" coat of DRI WASH N GUARD®. Place a conventional high-speed
buffer, with a foam bonnet, directly against the scratched area. Turn
the buffer on while holding it in position, operate at 1,500 rpm for 20
seconds without moving the buffer. Repeat once if necessary.*
